Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Kassie till-slip parsing API and website ("the Service"), operated by [REGISTERED BUSINESS NAME], [registration number], of [business address], South Africa ("we", "us"). By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them.

1. What the Service does

Kassie accepts images of retail till slips and returns structured data extracted from them, together with confidence scores and descriptive flags. The Service is a data-extraction tool. It does not adjudicate competition entries, approve or reject purchases, or make decisions on your behalf. Any decision you take based on Kassie's output is yours.

2. No accuracy guarantee

Optical character recognition is probabilistic. We publish measured accuracy figures per retailer and we work to improve them, but we do not warrant that any given slip will be read correctly or completely. You are responsible for setting confidence thresholds and review procedures appropriate to the value at stake in your campaign.

3. Accounts and API keys

4. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to process documents you have no right to process, to build a competing parsing dataset, to attempt to overload or reverse-engineer the Service, or for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend access for breach of this clause.

5. Your data and ours

You keep ownership of the images and data you submit. You grant us a limited licence to process them for the purpose of providing the Service. We may use aggregated, de-identified operational statistics (volumes, error rates, retailer distribution) to improve the Service. We do not use your submitted images to train models unless you give separate written consent.

6. Fees, billing and taxes

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and is responsible for charging and remitting VAT or sales tax. Quotas reset each billing period and do not roll over. Requests beyond your quota are declined rather than billed as overage, unless you have agreed otherwise in writing.

7. Cancellation

You may cancel at any time from your Lemon Squeezy customer portal. Access continues to the end of the paid period. Refunds are governed by our refund policy.

8. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the Service is provided without an uptime guarantee unless a separate service level agreement is signed. We may change, add or remove features. Breaking changes to the API surface will be introduced under a new version path, and we will give reasonable notice before retiring an older one.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, our total liability arising from the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, campaign costs, or the consequences of a slip being read incorrectly.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies to you.
